Have you ever noticed...
The process of maintaining a balanced life really never stops!
I believe that if you are like me and love new challenges, you have to be constantly asking "is this committment right for this season?".
I really made a concerted effort in the 2nd half of 2010 to step away from some areas of committment and service where grace and enthusiasm had waned in order to make room for some new endeavors. Well I did. By December, I was freed up. Wow, it felt so good to slow down. I was reconnecting with people and laughing more. These are both very good things.
Well, It is now Feb and I am slammed!!! Dont get me wrong, I am not complaining. I am just making the observation that every time I turn around I am involved in really exciting new ventures. Because I have a visionary nature and love creative thinking it sets me up for this scenario.
So, for the next 5 (weekly) posts I am going to explore some good disciplines and practices to have in place to be sure we are doing the right things in the right season.
Discipline/Practice #1
Ask God.
I have found it is a really good idea to talk it out with God before you step into things.
"Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and mighty things you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
In this promise, the Father is telling us that if we talk to Him we will actually recieve from Him new info. "things we do not know". Plus that info is "great and mighty". We want and really need that info!!
The Lord "rewards those who earnestly seek Him" Hebrews 11:6
We like rewards!! Usually I am doing things way bigger than I am capable of and really need these rewards.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and he will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5
See, We really want Him to direct us as we go. So, in order to "trust" him we need to know Him and what He is saying. So, ask Him.
You may be thinking, Sarah sure does like to quote scriptures. True, I do. Here's why. I have found that He ALWAYS fulfills His word. Everytime in His time!
When we talk with our Father, just like Jesus did, about all things whether they may be exciting, risky, and busy, life is leaning more toward balance.
Let's do it! Talk with Him and see!!!
Sarah
